Local Government Areas (LGAs) in Federal Capital Territory State

Federal Capital Territory State has 6 Local Government Areas:

1. Abuja Municipal Area Council — HQ: Abuja (1,769 km²) Abuja Municipal Area Council is the principal urban Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory and contains most of the Abuja Federal Capital City. It should not be confused with the entire FCT, which contains six Area Councils.
2. Bwari — HQ: Bwari (914 km²) Bwari is one of the six Area Councils of the FCT and combines rapidly expanding suburban districts with extensive rural and agricultural communities.
3. Gwagwalada — HQ: Gwagwalada (1,043 km²) Gwagwalada is an important western and southwestern gateway to Abuja and is one of the major satellite-town areas of the FCT.
4. Kuje — HQ: Kuje (1,644 km²) Kuje combines agricultural communities with rapidly expanding residential developments. It is strategically located southwest of Abuja city and has become increasingly integrated into the metropolitan economy.
5. Kwali — HQ: Kwali (1,206 km²) Kwali is one of the six Area Councils of the FCT and contains extensive rural communities. It is strongly associated with agriculture, pottery and traditional crafts.
6. Abaji — HQ: Abaji (992 km²) Abaji is the southernmost Area Council of the FCT and serves as an important gateway between Abuja and parts of Kogi and Nasarawa States.
